RMSP Workshops Intermediate Photography Workshop

Where We Go: Having been introduced to your SLR and the general principles in Basic Photography, our Intermediate workshop allows you to build your skills while helping boost your confidence as a photographer. North of Missoula you photograph the stunning Mission Mountains as the evening light ignites the hillside colors and illuminates the historic St. Ignatius Mission, which rests at their base. Inside the church, you capture the masterfully painted ceilings and impressive architecture of this 120-year-old structure. At Ninepipe National Wildlife Refuge you photograph animals and waterfowl as they go about their day. By photographing the town of Philipsburg and Garnet Ghost Town and then exploring Missoula’s downtown, you get a taste of the West as it was then and is now.

What You Learn: In addition to furthering your photography experience, this workshop provides the opportunity to learn and practice new techniques while enjoying Tony’s down-to-earth teaching style. Topics covered include low-light and night photography, techniques for macro photography, composition and elements of design, and learning to edit and sequence your work. One-on-one attention in the field and daily critique sessions give you the feedback necessary to make improvements throughout the week.

Who Should Attend: You should have an understanding of the basic principles of photography or have taken Basic Photography and be comfortable with the manual exposure operation of your camera. Film cameras are welcome, however only digital images can be critiqued.

All sessions of this workshop begin Sunday at 1 p.m. and end Friday evening.

“Wow! It was amazing how seamlessly Intermediate Photography built on Basic. What a wonderful environment to learn in: warm, knowledgeable and accessible instructors, beautiful settings to photograph, and a group of great students to laugh and learn with.” – Sandy K., California
