This course meets the evenings of November 25, December 2, and December 9.
You've been photographing for a while now, and generally feel like you know what you are doing. You feel confident with your camera's controls and can create images with intention .... usually. But what you really lack, and desperately need, is real feedback on your work. You know firsthand that it's nearly impossible to make progress when you are living in your own photographic bubble.
The good news here is that you are not alone. Most photographers don't have supportive groups of other photographers available to offer constructive criticism of their work. Yes, Facebook and other online sharing platforms are helpful to a point, but will never match up to the benefits of receiving person-to-person feedback. This course strives to pop all the photo bubbles out there, and bring together photographers of all stripes in an environment where they can learn from, and be inspired by, each other's successes and failures.
Instructor feedback and assignments will challenge and motivate you to push your boundaries. There will be no dedicated shooting time or lectures involved in these sessions, rather 100% of the class time will be dedicated to the instructors providing and guiding feedback on participants' images.
This course will be held in Room #204 at RMSP. To get to Room #204, enter through the double doors at the address below. Take the stairs to the second floor, turn right and the classroom will be directly in front of you. There will be signs posted in the building directing you to your classroom.

This class will meet on November 25, December 2 and December 9, from 6:00-7:30pm.
No equipment is needed for this class. You do however need to be able to transfer your images to us for critique. We recommend students use a flash drive for this process.
If you don't have a flash drive, we recommend this one: SanDisk 64GB Ultra USB 3.0 Flash Drive
For the first class, please bring 10 images that best represent what you like to shoot (these don't need to be your best 10 images). To make things easy, please turn in JPEG images. If you aren't sure how to do that, raw images are totally fine too!
If you want to learn more about raw and JPEG and how to convert images from one to the other, check out our Lightroom Classic class!
Please see our Adult Education Course listings.

Montana-based artist, Scott ‘Raff’ Rafferty has been honing his skills as a photographer and image maker since the late '90s when he was first trained as a professional photo finisher in high-end traditional labs. His path has since taken a windy road throughout many different creative disciplines beyond photography, including product design, brand development, graphic design, and interior space curation. Raff’s melting pot of experiences all share a common thread, which is his passion for strong composition in creative expression. Whether it’s taking a photo of a still life or styling the furniture in a client’s living room, the fundamentals are the same (and they are to be honored). Most recently Raff has fallen in love with a new discipline- Aerial Photography. As a licensed and trained drone pilot he now takes his photography ‘to new heights’ by exploring shape, color, movement, and composition from the skies.
