Taking Better People Photos

April 21, 2020 - April 28, 2020

Photographs of people make some of the most interesting and meaningful images we will ever take! But it's a genre of photography that can be intimidating and challenging. It's difficult to develop the confidence and skills necesary to help your photo subjects feel comfortable and look amazing. Let us show you the basics of posing, composition, exposure and lighting so that you can achieve the images you want to take.

Topics include:
  • How to communicate with your subject so they relax and feel comfortable in front of the camera
  • Achieving natural poses that feel candid and authentic
  • Refining your compositional skills to craft effective portraits
  • The basics of exposure for effective portraits
  • A better understanding of how light creates mood and shapes your subject
  • Photographing children
  • Photographing groups of people
  • The photographic gear that works to your advantage in a portrait setting

This class includes two classroom lecture sessions, a demo and a field shoot outdoors. For the field shoot, you will bring someone you'd like to photograph and we'll help you get the shots you want.

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS:

"Quinn is amazing and very knowledgeable. She made our light bulbs turn on and things click and you could see that as the class progressed."
