This class is taught online only. RMSP uses Zoom for online education. We limit online classes to 25 participants to ensure there is time for students to ask questions. Time will not be spent learning Zoom in class so we recommend familiarizing yourself with the platform prior to starting class. To download the Zoom app on your computer, please do that here. A Meeting ID number and password will be emailed to all registered students 24 hours before the first class session. Headphones are required for all RMSP online classes.

Full-time wedding and portrait photographer, Mary Brunst, will start this class with some tried and true ideas of how to get your business off the ground, and she'll fill it up with tips and information about the process of growing a sustainable business.

This crash course includes more than super valuable information. It's a chance for you to ask a real-world, working professional photographer those burning questions you've been holding on to!

Topics include:

  • The importance of networking with other pros
  • Potential sources of photography income including, stock, assisting, family portraits, and content creation for local business
  • Ideas to begin branding and marketing your business
  • Resources for creating your website
  • Finding your customers
  • The challenges and realities of building your portfolio while keeping a part time or full time job

Equipment

What is the cutoff date for registration?

We accept registrations on a first-come first-served basis until a course is full. Register early!

How many participants are in Evening Courses?

Evening courses taught in the classroom enroll a maximum of 12 students. Courses taught online enroll a maximum of 25 students.

What is RMSP's Evening Courses cancellation policy?

For Evening Courses taught in an RMSP classroom, tuition is refunded in full minus a $25 processing fee (per course) if you notify RMSP at least five business days before the course start date. If your cancellation is received fewer than five days prior to the course start date, full tuition is retained by RMSP. No refunds are given for cancellations or no-shows after the course is in progress. Refunds will be processed within 30 days after our office receives notice of cancellation.

For Evening Courses taught online, tuition will be refunded in full if you notify RMSP at least two business days (48 hours) before the course begins. If you notify RMSP fewer than two business days prior to the course start date, full tuition is retained by RMSP.

Mary Brunst

Mary Brunst, a portrait, wedding and editorial photographer, considers herself to be a smile-loving, adventurous soul. She is a go-getter, big dreamer, and a messy perfectionist. Photography for her is a way to focus on what is good and to cherish some of life’s happiest moments. Mary loves getting to document life as it happens, creating images that reflect real life in a genuine and uncontrived way. She strives to create images that radiate authenticity and reflect the true personalities of those she is photographing. She is a 2010 Graduate of RMSP's Career Training Program and worked as a Summer Intensive teaching assistant in 2011. Mary finds sharing her passion for photography with others both fun and rewarding. She currently resides in Westminster, Maryland. Her work has been featured on The Knot, Grey Likes Weddings, United with Love, Mountainside Bride, Charm City Wed, Bayside Bride and other wedding blogs & publications.
