Discovering Your Visual Voice Online Only

July 20, 2020 - August 03, 2020

This class is taught online only. RMSP uses Zoom for online education. We limit online classes to 25 participants to ensure there is time for students to ask questions. Time will not be spent learning Zoom in class so we recommend familiarizing yourself with the platform prior to starting class. To download the Zoom app on your computer, please do that here. A Meeting ID number and password will be emailed to all registered students 24 hours before the first class session. Headphones are required for all RMSP online classes.

Class sessions are live and are not recorded for later viewing. This allows for interaction between the instructor and the students. Please click "Schedule" for specific dates and times.

If you’ve been photographing for any time at all you have a visual voice, you just might not be fully aware of it. But with a new perspective on your work and a handful of tips and exercises, this course can help you uncover it. Knowing your visual voice makes it easier to shoot with more intentionality, more cohesiveness, and more fun!

For the first session, we’ll look through student work to understand what elements contribute to visual voice and start practicing ways to evaluate your own work. (You’ll receive an email prior to the first session with details about what and how to submit.)

After the first session, you’ll continue to dig into your body of work to identify your visual voice and then you’ll go shoot with it in mind. The second session is an opportunity to have those images critiqued and get feedback on how well your visual voice is coming through.

This course is open to all photographers – it doesn’t matter what you shoot with!
