Mastering Your Camera Seattle, Washington
3/23/2019 - 3/23/2019
Are you looking to gain confidence using your camera in difficult shooting situations? Do you want hands-on time with instructors to ask questions, gain insight and see first-hand how they would handle a shooting situation? Are you looking to make your images and editing more consistent?
Mastering Your Camera is a one-day class built to help improve your confidence and consistency. It starts with a review of basic exposure concepts to ensure all students are at the same level and have a good foundation of F-stops, shutter speeds, and ISOs. Then, the instructor transitions into more advanced exposure concepts like outsmarting the meter and zone system. The day finishes with a field shoot, editing demo, and critique where you can get your questions answered and learn ways to improve your images.
We limit the class size to 20 students and provide qualified teaching assistants and administrators to ensure the teacher-to-student ratio remains better than 1:10. If you have questions, don’t worry, we got you!

Doug Johnson is a Colorado native now living in Missoula, Montana. Before a life-changing pursuit of photographic art, he was an outdoor educator for more than 20 years, passionately teaching people backcountry skills in navigation, mountaineering, avalanche awareness and wilderness first aid. Since graduating from RMSP’s Summer Intensive program in 1996, Doug’s work has covered many diverse projects in the documentary, commercial, fine art and educational fields. Assignments have taken him from coyote shooting in Wyoming to the last stages of a woman’s life to the graffiti-covered alleys and abandoned buildings of Denver. He is currently involved in an ongoing project called Art Music, which fuses the art of photography with live musical performance. His educational philosophy is fun, intuitive and full of creative persistence.
