When you're ready to move beyond the technical aspects of photography and get into the practice of creating art, that's where the real fun can begin. This course will focus on moving beyond the "snapshot" style of photography toward more thoughtful image-making. Becoming more intentional with elements such as composition, light, and color — and how those elements work together — can evoke mood and emotion in your viewers. And this can make our images more meaningful and more powerful!

After the first session, you'll have an opportunity to put what you learn into practice and get feedback on your work in the second session!

You should come to this class with a basic understanding of exposure. If you’re still shooting on Auto or simply want a great refresher, consider registering for Exposure Basics: Shooting in Manual Mode or watching our YouTube video Photography Basics: Part I – Understanding Exposure.

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS:

"Most of what Quinn presented I had previously read about or heard about from someone else, but I took away SO much more from the hour and a half spent with Quinn. For me, this was simply due to her passion for the subject and for photography in general which was very obvious throughout. Her passion was/is contagious and it not only made it very easy to understand and retain the information presented, it left me wanting more. Very well done!"

"I thought Quinn did a wonderful job engaging us and faciliating us throughout the workshop."

"I appreciate the genuine conversation Quinn had with students. Many of the things that Quinn spoke about I have heard in the past from other instructors, but Quinn was able to take a very complex and often abstract subject and made it obtainable."
