Authentic portraiture, as opposed to a standard portrait, is what happens when an authentic subject and an authentic photographer make photos together. It’s that simple…but getting there in a culture that is built on having the most appealing facade is a bigger challenge than it seems. In this course, Mark will share his approach to taking portraits that capture the essence of a person and make them say, “Oh my goodness, that’s totally me!”

Topics include:
  • Making space for authenticity
  • Paying attention / deep observation
  • Practical tips for capturing authenticity

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS:

"Mark was amazing to learn from."

"I'm really appreciative of his grounded approach and his emphasis on seeing/noticing."
