Are you confused by all of the options when it comes to buying a camera and lens? These days there is no right camera for everyone. Each camera manufacturer caters to a different type of photographer and the right brand and model for you depends entirely on where you want to go with your photography and what your budget allows.

In this class we will explore cameras from Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fuji, and Olympus and talk about which brand and model makes the most sense for different types of photographers.

We will also look at lenses and talk about how to choose the right lens for the right situation. Most new photographers don’t realize that the right lens matters much more than the right camera when it comes to capturing the images you’ve always wanted to create.

Topics include:
  • Which camera brands cater to which types of photographers
  • Crop sensor cameras vs. full frame cameras
  • Features to look for when comparing multiple cameras
  • Buying used equipment
  • Choosing the right lens
  • Fixed vs. zoom lenses
  • Speed of a lens and how it can affect the images you are able to create

Prerequisites: None! Let us help you learn how to buy your first camera!

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS:

"The organization of the presentation was outstanding. It took a sprawling topic (what camera? which lenses?) and really narrowed the process down with surprising precision. I have SUCH a better idea of what I need in terms of equipment now - which is exactly what I wanted from the class."

"Forest is knowledgeable, experienced, up-to-date on the latest information, and a natural on camera. You can tell that he really knows what he's talking about."

"Informative, catered to all levels, and fun!"
